April 2022 Adoptions On Pets And Tricks

0 0

Another month has come and gone, which means we have more adoption stories to share with you!

Each of these shelter cats had a rough start on their adoption journey, and fewer options than their younger, healthier, more confident counterparts. We know from experience that despite appearing frozen or frustrated in their shelter cages, these cats can have brilliantly colorful personalities when given a place to feel safe. Each of them has lots of love to give, and deserves a chance to find someone who will love them in return.

Cat Town’s success in helping these cats is made possible by the support we receive from people just like you. Thank you for contributing to our work — whether it’s by donating, volunteering, or sharing our emails and social media posts. We’re grateful to everyone who believes in our cats!

Little Pekoe got plenty of love in his foster home while he recovered from an upper respiratory infection, but needed help from other cats to learn that hands are for petting, not for play biting! He was a quick study, and got adopted to a home with a rambunctious cat friend to help remind him how to play nicely with others.

Doolin (top) became stressed enough in his shelter cage to bite someone, and needed a calming environment where he could let his guard down. Shy Dijon (bottom) was an undersocialized kitten who made good progress at the shelter, enticed by playtime and pets. The two met at Cat Town, and soon became fast friends, helping comfort and reassure one another. They’re continuing to make great progress with a patient guardian who’s helping them feel safe at their own pace.

Big-eyed Saba came to us with FIV and asthma, wary of people, and nursing 4 young kittens. After keeping them safe and sound until they were big enough to get adopted, she was finally ready for a little “me time” and learned that we humans aren’t so bad! She started to enjoy petting — leaning in with big purrs and drooling in contentment — and even let us teach her how to use her inhaler without much fuss. Her adopter wasn’t intimidated by her ongoing medical care, and is looking forward to lots of blissful snuggles. What a lucky mama!

Sweet Matilda came to us at 14 years old with a history of chronic diarrhea going back a full 8 years! After a quick stop at our Adoption Center, we got her into a foster home, worked to eliminate possible allergens from her diet, and started her on B-12 shots — all of which helped make her bathroom business more manageable. In working to get Matilda’s health under control, her fosters fell in love, and decided to make this gentle gal part of the family!

After life as a street cat, Santiago is adjusting very well to his new home (and even has a fancy new bow tie)! We helped this mellow, FIV+ 6-year-old work out his gastrointestinal issues. He stayed charming the entire time he was in our care, and his adopter is, understandably, head over heels.
